Project FAI promotes fantasy fiction written by Israeli writers, and I was lucky enough to be one of the four writers to take part in the project.

Project Fantasy-AI is many things, but for me, it is a very charitable idea given form by two incredible students from the Tel Aviv University Steve Tisch School of Film and Television:

The idea was to take a few local writers of fantasy and promote the authors and one of their books through the use of visual media, and TikTok (BookTok) in particular. Then, to really make a splash, they were going to use the (then) latest tech in the field of AI to bring scenes from the books to life.
I was floored, honestly. To my shame, that was the first time I learned of BookTok as a concept. I was marginally aware of what was possible with AI. My novel, The Hand Theat Deals, was something I had never really put out there and the few people who had had the opportunity to read it were always telling me off for not making it widely available, "because it deserves to be read" and "deserves to be made into a TV series or a movie." Their words, not mine.
Now, with Project FAI, there is a chance for all of it to happen. Maybe.
Filmed Interview
First, I was interviewed on camera -- no rehearsals, very few takes -- about my book, about how it came about. I was asked to read an excerpt that the creators had selected and I did so on the spot, without ANY preparation. Little did I know that this would be used later as a voiceover in one of the clips they planned to film.
Live Action Scene from The Hand That Deals
It's one of those surreal moments I might have secretly dreamed of but through Project FAI it came true. A scene from my book, enacted by a real actor, in the real world, with post production effects. Well how about that! And a voiceover of me reading from my book, never suspecting it would be used for dramatic effect in a movie clip. A movie clip!
